1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Surprise Chef AI (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Surprise Chef AI is a meal planning and kitchen management platform that connects to AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, and others) via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The Service includes:

A web application at surprisechef.ai
An MCP server that provides AI tools for meal planning, recipe management, and shopping
Interactive UI components within AI chat interfaces

3. Accounts

You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for:

Providing accurate information
Keeping your API key and credentials secure
All activity under your account

4. Your Data

You own your data. Recipes you create, meal plans, pantry inventory, and food history belong to you. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

When you share a recipe publicly, a snapshot of that recipe becomes visible to anyone with the link. You can delete shared recipes at any time.

5. AI Integration

Surprise Chef connects to third-party AI platforms (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and others). When you connect an AI assistant:

The AI can read and write your household data through our MCP tools
Your data is sent to the AI platform as context for generating responses
We do not control how the AI platform processes your data — refer to their privacy policies
AI-generated content (recipes, meal plans) should be reviewed before following — we are not responsible for nutritional or dietary accuracy

6. Medical & Dietary Disclaimers

Surprise Chef AI is not a medical or dietary advisory service.

Dietary alerts are best-effort based on the profiles you create — they may miss conflicts
Always consult healthcare professionals for medical dietary requirements
AI-generated recipes may contain errors in nutritional information or ingredient safety
We are not liable for allergic reactions, dietary complications, or health issues arising from following AI-generated recipes

7. Households

Household owners can invite members and guests. By joining a household, you agree that:

Other household members can see shared data (pantry, recipes, meal plans, shopping lists)
The household owner can remove you at any time
Your personal recipes and shopping lists remain private to you

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to access other users' data
Abuse the API or MCP endpoints (excessive requests, automated scraping)
Share your API key publicly

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uptime. The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, your data is permanently deleted.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Surprise Chef AI and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
